Position Summary:
The Human Resources Director is pivotal in providing comprehensive HR support and driving the strategic HR goals aligned with the business objectives. This role encompasses managing a broad spectrum of HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, payroll administration, employee relations, training and development, performance management, diversity and inclusion initiatives, HRIS maintenance, benefits management, and ensuring compliance with legal standards. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the HR Director will also collaborate closely with the Controller and Director of Operations to ensure HR strategies are integrated seamlessly into the business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with the organization’s goals, driving initiatives that support business growth and operational excellence.
- HR Operations Management: Hands-on oversight of all core HR functions, including policy development, recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compensation and benefits, training and development, compliance, and records management.
- Talent Acquisition & Onboarding: Lead full-cycle recruiting efforts and ensure an efficient onboarding process that promotes a positive new hire experience and compliance with all documentation requirements.
- Leadership Support & Coaching: Serve as a trusted advisor to management, providing guidance on performance management, employee relations, and team development.
- Employee Relations: Manage employee relations matters with professionalism and consistency, including investigations, disciplinary actions, terminations.
- Training & Development: Design and deliver training programs and new hire orientations that support employee growth, engagement, and operational standards.
- HR Audits & Reporting: Lead and maintain HR-related audits, reporting, and compliance reviews, including benefits administration, payroll, personnel files, HRIS data, and regulatory recordkeeping to ensure accuracy and adherence to company policies and legal requirements.
- Compliance, Workers’ Compensation, & Risk Management: Ensure adherence to all local, state, and federal labor laws and company policies; oversee and manage workers' compensation claims, unemployment claims, and proactively manage workplace safety and mitigate organizational risk.
- Compensation, Benefits & HRIS Administration: Manage payroll, benefits administration, leaves of absence, and HRIS systems, conducting regular audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Workforce Planning & Succession: Support organizational continuity through effective workforce planning and succession strategies.
- Culture & Engagement: Promote a positive, inclusive workplace culture by leading employee engagement initiatives, retention strategies, recognition programs, and diversity efforts that support organizational success.
Key Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
- SHRM or PHR certification highly regarded.
- A minimum of 7 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role within a multi-unit restaurant, hospitality, or high-volume operational environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with proven leadership capabilities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with a keen analytical and problem-solving approach.
- Bilingual abilities (English and Spanish) are highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with HRIS or ATS systems required.
- Familiarity with Paylocity, HotSchedules, and Toast POS platforms is a plus.
